Lebanese President Joseph Aoun confirmed, while receiving a delegation from the International Federation of Lebanese Businessmen and Women, that his decision to resort to negotiations came out of his national responsibility to prevent the country’s leadership from sliding into the abyss in the service of foreign interests, and in order to stop the Israeli machine of destruction and annihilation. He pointed out that this step enjoys the support of the majority of Lebanese, including the Shiite community, which bore the greatest cost of the war. Aoun stressed the determination to pursue this path, calling on the Lebanese to cling to hope and trust in the future despite all obstacles. He expressed his great optimism about his upcoming visit to Washington and his meeting with US President Donald Trump, expecting it to bring positive results that reflect an unprecedented American interest in supporting a permanent solution that ends Israeli attacks and achieves comprehensive stability.
